An early project at Upgrade Pack was something that I initially brought up in my interview with the team. The idea was centred around a design system to drive our design and engineering efforts.
Given my technical background, I was fully aware that in order for us to employ a rapid and efficient approach to product development, we needed a component-first mindset from design through product and finally tech.
Why call it Dolly? Given we're in the travel business, and you can obtain everything you want on a flight from the 'Dolly trolley', I felt the name would be perfect for a holistic system.

As our team started to grow and we were faced with questions of responsibility and growth, I decided to approach the problem in a systematic way.

By removing emotional hunches, we could analyse the team's skill level pragmatically and work out what loose skills we could all be working on to reach the next steps in our careers.
I created this system, the criteria, and the placement of our team members on the grid and will work alongside the VP of Product to work with our team on tracking these skills over time.
Our UX designer held user testing sessions with a sample of our beta user group and discovered that the users found the repetition of adding in their booking reference and selecting an airline tedious.
As a product team, we saw this an an opportunity to investigate a quicker search method, leading us to the idea that perhaps a past search route would satisfy.
Our engineering team hadn't been tested with React Native animation before, and the swipe to delete action was certainly an eyebrow raiser.
It took a while, but I worked alongside one of our engineers to bring the feature to life, and we ended up with a version almost exactly as briefed.
Sometimes, pushing your team within a positive and collaborative environment can turn an unpredictable idea into an interactive (and new!) product that takes user experience to another level.
The leading CX platform for physical spaces, building social media and customer satisfaction tools for hotels, stadia and events companies across the globe.
Spotting a gap in the market, the Local Measure CEO briefed the product team to investigate the possiblity of a during–stay customer satisfaction tool.
Local Measure had already built a partnership with Cisco to build on premise WiFi solutions for hotels and stadia, and we realised that we could build a tool that'd close the circle on how a customer arrives, interacts with, and ultimately reviews a business whilst they visit the property or venue.
If we could positively impact a business' NPS score or TripAdvisor review, we were staring into a very profitable revenue stream for Local Measure.

Collaborating with a co–host in Los Angeles, Noise was launched in April 2019.
We interview creatives from across the globe to try and understand their journeys and what makes them tick.
We're currently recording season 2, aiming for release in March 2020.
A Medium publication with the aim of creating a space where designers can write about things other than design; we're human too.
As well as publishing articles from other designers, I run a bi–monthly interview series with creatives.
8px was launched in December 2017, currently listing 96 stories and has clocked in nearly 3,500 views.
